Nikki Wilbur is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist whose work is deeply rooted in the heritage of the American Southwest. Born and raised in rural northern New Mexico, she spent much of her childhood on her grandparents’ ranch, where she developed a strong connection to the land.
For over twenty-five years, she has created traditional New Mexican folk arts, including retablos, straw appliqué, tin work, and Colcha embroidery. More recently, inspired by the Modernists of New Mexico and Arizona, she has turned her focus to contemporary Western oil paintings, utilizing bold geometric abstraction to interpret the landscape and sky.
She strives to create timeless paintings that extend beyond the appearance of the physical world, while reflecting her sense of place and awe for the American Southwest.
She lives in Wickenburg, Arizona, with her family.
